about

Recorded live at Garfield Artworks, 12.07.07
As you can tell from the titles, the general concept for this piece is the shift between REM and non-REM sleep (drones vs. dreams) and generalized emotional types of dreams. There is one instance of each state turning to the next, as well as at least one drone and one dream for the four base states. It should have technically ended on a dream, but I wanted to end where I started, making the entire work as cyclical as the individual movements. This was recorded at Garfield Artworks for an Unblurred art opening, with no breaks or interruptions. 4.1 was played a couple times after that. This was the last release before Pancreatic Aardvarks went on hiatus. There was another 3 hour ambient set after that, but the recording didn't come out very good. Focusing on microscopic changes in sound for 20-30 minutes is mind altering...for 3 hours it is a surreal experience I can't describe. The original release of this was a cd-r containing 25 .mp3s, rather than splitting it onto 3 cds.
